Injection pier being used to repair foundation from sinkhole

Injection Piers unsed in Foundation Stabilization for Sinkhole Damage Repair

This method utilizes pins and brackets to stabilize and re-lift the foundation. Grout is then pumped at high pressure through small openings in the piers to compact loose soils and allows for more stability. C&N piers carry a “Limited Lifetime Transferable Warranty.”

Injection Pier Stabilization C&N utilizes steel injection piers to provide a unique and effective method of structure stabilization and soil compaction.

Installation Procedures   Injection piers transfer the load from surface soils to a deeper, more competent stratum. The stabilization is accomplished through the installation of perforated steel injection piers hydraulically installed into the ground to a competent base. The structure rests on top of the steel piers.

C&N Foundation Technologies has the ability to either pre-drill or hydraulically push each pier to reach a uniform, prescribed depth. Our piers and brackets are fabricated under strict engineering specifications at our state-of-the-art facility. The support piers consist of 3" OD schedule 80 steel pipe in 3' sections. A certain number of the pipes will be perforated, with the exact number to be determined by the project engineer. These perforations allow grout to pass through the piers, filling subsurface voids. The steel piers are connected with a hydraulically pressed, tapered connector.

The Process Our crews begin by excavating a small pit near the structure's foundation to access the bottom of the foundation.  This may include removal of landscaping, sidewalks, and other items that are present.

C&N  then uses the engineer's prescribed method to hydraulically advance each pier.  The pier slides through the bracket under the foundation.  When all the piers have been installed around the perimeter, the structural piers are welded into place.  If the structure needs the be lifted back into position, it is done at this time.  After all the piers are welded, a low-slump ready-mix grout is pumped into the piers to fill any subsurface voids as well as to compact the soil.
