Compaction Grouting used to Fix Sinkholes in Florida

Grout is pumped through steel casings into the ground under high pressure. This seals cavities in the limestone bedrock, compacts loose soils, and fills voids in the overlying soils.

Installation of Grout Casing C&N Foundation Technologies is an industry leader in the Rotary Wash drilling method. Our grout casing consists of a carbide tip drilling head capable of penetrating all subsoil. Each injection point begins by utilizing a cutting head on a four-foot long 3" ID section of casing. As the cutting head begins to travel downward, another section of casing is connected in four-foot intervals vial milled inside and outside threading. In a low-overhead clearance situation, our crew utilizes 2' casing. The drilling process continues until the grout casing reaches competent limestone. With the casing installed and resting on limestone, the drill machine is disconnected and the process begins again at the next injection point.

Drilling Equipment C&N Foundation Technologies' drill machines are all custom made to our exacting standards.  We have modified each drilling machine to increase torque output and capability.  Our walk-behind drilling rig allows our crews the maneuverability needed to place the machine onto porches and pool decks and in garages when necessary. With our equipment and casing, we can guarantee our casing will reach the necessary required depths.

Grouting Procedure C&N Foundation Technologies receives grout from redi-mix suppliers.  Our crews arrive with all the necessary equipment to pump the grout into the casing.  Once the casing is installed around the perimeter of the structure, the pumping begins.

C&N monitors the inline pressure gauge and visually inspects the structure and neighboring structures for movement.  The casing is extracted during pumping to allow the grout to spread upward compacting the soil above the limestone.

“THE MAIN REASON FOR CHOOSING C&N WAS FOR THE GOOD REPUTATION. ALSO, I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE POLITENESS AND THE CLEANNESS OF THE DAILY SERVICE.” -John And Bonnie
